Climate change is coming to you as it did to a dear friend of mine.
Denise Russo is a tireless worker for others in need. Her efforts for Thirst Aid Live are testament to how single individuals can and are making a difference in the troubled world we live in and the Foundation honors her.
We are all faced with the fierce urgency of the need to act on climate change as it will not discriminate who it affects or when and where it will strike.
Denise her husband Quinn and children Olivia and Vincent have experienced first hand the devastating effects of climate change. Will you be next? Will I?
Read her email to friends below and see if you can reach out a hand to help Denise and her family who have lost all to the ravages of flood.
As many of you already know, on Mon September 21, our home, my car, and our town were drastically affected by a debilitating flood in Austell, GA. In fact, to date, the estimated damages throughout metro Atlanta exceed $1bil, and in my town alone – 1/2 the population (now up to 2500 residents) – are temporarily homeless, including us.

As I watched the waters quickly rise, I had no idea that by late afternoon, my car and the kids’ school would be totally submerged under water, or that we would lose the majority of our personal belongings and our home in such a devastating way. In fact, on Tue Sept 22, I got a personal gondolier ride for my birthday….in a canoe…to my front door. Waters exceeded 9 feet in my home and many of my neighbors had water all the way to their rooftops. Hundreds of cars, including mine, were destroyed, and belongings and memories floated for blocks.
As we continue to rebuild our lives – we have been asked by many of you, how to send financial donations.Attn: Flood Relief
